When the user composes an email in the email client software of his choice, he just includes the pre composed text signature from within the email client software, and the .SIG file is automatically attached to the email message by the software. Most of the email client softwares provide support to .SIG files, although Qualcomm Eudora Pro, and Microsoft Outlook are known to support the format for sure.
An error might occur while opening the .SIG signature file if:
i. The email client you are using doesn't support opening .SIG files.
